Senior Software Engineer – Platform Development As a Tanium Senior Software Engineer focused on platform development, you will build and maintain best‑of‑breed services that power products as part of a nimble development team. Tanium emphasizes a customer‑engagement model and a continuous feedback process to ensure products are designed the right way from the beginning. Your work will involve designing, developing, testing, and deploying new product ideas from the ground up, while iterating with product management and customers for feedback and input. What You’ll Do Build and maintain Tanium’s servers and client alongside a highly agile development team. Focus on strong customer engagement and feedback to ensure products are designed correctly from the outset. Design, develop, and test new product ideas from the ground up while collaborating with product management for feedback and input. Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Computer Science or related technical field preferred. Experience 7+ years of industry experience (10+ preferred). Advanced knowledge of C++. Experience designing and building high‑performance, secure, scalable, observable, supportable, and maintainable backend services and APIs. Experience with public‑cloud technologies (e.g., AWS or Azure). Experience with cryptographic primitives, TLS, and PKI. Experience with HTTP API design and development. Experience with modern software engineering development and automation tools such as Git, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins. Other Qualifications Sound judgment for balancing rapid development with long‑term code maintainability and supportability. Excellent communication skills, both technical and non‑technical, in written and oral forms. Commitment to writing automated tests as part of development. Skilled debugger capable of handling high‑pressure production incidents. Knowledge of a variety of modern software frameworks (both server‑side and browser‑side) and willingness to learn new tools. Detail‑oriented and passionate about creating an awesome user experience. Benefits Annual base salary range: C$200,000 – C$220,000 (adjustable based on location, education, skills, training, and experience). Full‑time employment with benefits packages typical for Tanium employees.
