Work Location: This role is a remote position with the exception of the occasional requirement to attend meetings at our office which is located at 44 Kodiak Cres, Toronto, ON. We are TTC Subway Accessible and we have plenty of parking available on site.
General Summary: The Buyer will oversee the vendor relationship and performance management from beginning to end for vendors on the drop ship program. As the operational liaison between vendors and merchandising, you are accountable for the development, communication, and tactical execution of drop ship growth strategies that drive profitability, return rate improvement, improved speed to customer, within existing vendor base while supporting new vendors in collaboration with the Business Development team. In addition, The Buyer will manage and increase reporting capabilities for vendor performance, profitability, and business analytics.
Reports to: Divisional Merchandise Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Train and develop new team members on maintaining vendors and troubleshooting issues, vendor compliance and relationship management Own weekly/monthly communication of Dropship business recap to the organization.
- Exhibit success through process improvement leveraging analytics and team collaboration.
- Deliver weekly and monthly (WBR/MBR) insights in collaboration with Planning & Finance.
- Understand root cause for vendor onboarding issues that arise and implement solutions.
- Drive operational excellence by identifying obstacles within business operations related to drop ship, propose solutions, and align with leadership and stakeholders to implement change.
- Creates dashboards to spot emerging trends or issues.
- Collaborate with Merchandising/Planning teams on overall business mix and how to best leverage Dropship to support overall long-term vendor/category growth.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to deal with constant changes and quick turnaround times.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, specifically Excel (Intermediate to Advanced).
- Must possess strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Analytical skills with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
- Influencing skills across multiple internal teams to ensure actions are executed.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven track record collaborating successfully with internal and external partners.
- Highly polished communication skills – speaking, writing, and presenting.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent experience.
- A strong background (7+ years) Merchandising, Analysis or Digital, preferably in a similar role.
- Prior experience with Dropship.
- 3+ years team management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of retail landscape, and “best practice” systems and functionality.
- Understanding of business and ability to foresee and react to the impact of strategies prior to implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully optimize processes; Excels in executing company goals and developing plans of action.
- Proven ability to provide sound business judgment and influence others to drive ideas and plans forward.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and willingness to take on responsibilities outside primary job description, when necessary, comfortable with ambiguity.
- Demonstrate strong resource workload and capacity management skills.
