Position Overview: Temple Scott Associates (TSA) is seeking an ambitious Government Relations Associate to work onsite at TSA’s Ottawa office. At TSA, we pride ourselves on providing fresh perspectives and supporting new talent. As a Government Relations Associate, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals to provide support on high-profile projects, and build the skills and network to be successful in the public affairs field. Key Responsibilities: Monitor and analyzefederal and provincial legislation and parliamentary activities that matter to TSA clients and, as required, draft summaries. Assist with preparing reports, policy briefs, and research documents that help shape client strategies. Support the planning and execution of "Days on the Hill", and client meetings that will put clients directly in touch with key government stakeholders. Build a network of political contacts, both within government and in the wider public affairs community. Contribute to the development of strategic government affairs plans that support client goals. Provide support to a collaborative TSA team in a flat, entrepreneurial environment. Qualifications: University degree in political science, economics, communications, or a related field. Experience working in government affairs or a public policy capacity, or working within a Ministerial, House of Commons, or Senate staff position. Bilingualism (English/French) is a strong asset and will be required on a daily basis. Knowledge of the Federal Government decision-making process and the federal legislative process. Exceptional writing and research skills, with a keen eye for detail and clarity. A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Demonstrated political acumen and strong interpersonal skills. Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a high-performing and fast-paced environment.
