About this opportunity Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Community Services is responsible for guiding the Town of Smithers’ community‑facing services to enhance well‑being, safety, inclusion, and engagement within the municipality. This role oversees a broad portfolio including recreation and culture, community safety and bylaw enforcement, homelessness and social development, and public communications and engagement. This position offers a competitive salary of $126,029.36–$136,829.60 (commensurate with experience). Essential Qualifications Include: Post secondary education (degree or diploma) in Recreation, Planning, or Business Administration, or a related discipline. At least 5 years experience in a senior leadership capacity overseeing community services or related functional areas within a municipal setting. Knowledge of the Community Charter and Local Government Act. Valid BC Driver’s License. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
