The Director of Finance is a senior strategic leader responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial health, driving financial strategy, and ensuring strong operational and governance practices. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), this role provides executive‑level leadership across all finance functions and serves as a key advisor to the senior leadership team. The Director of Finance blends deep technical expertise with strong business acumen to elevate financial operations, strengthen organizational infrastructure, and support long‑term growth. This role plays a pivotal part in shaping financial policy, enhancing performance management, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting while partnering closely with the CEO and executive leaders on major business decisions. Key Responsibilities Strategic Financial Leadership Partner with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with organizational priorities. Provide forward‑looking financial insights, analysis, and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision‑making. Lead financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario planning to guide organizational growth and risk management. Advise on capital allocation, investment decisions, and major financial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions. Financial Operations & Reporting Oversee all core finance and accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, treasury, and financial close processes. Ensure timely, accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with ASPE, IFRS, or GAAP. Oversee complex accounting matters and ensure adherence to evolving accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Lead cash flow management, working capital optimization, and treasury functions to maintain financial stability. Planning, Analysis & Performance Management Lead enterprise‑wide budgeting, forecasting, and long‑range planning processes. Develop and maintain financial dashboards, OKRs, and reporting frameworks to support executive decision‑making. Conduct in‑depth financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, translating insights into actionable recommendations. Monitor organizational performance against strategic goals and industry benchmarks. Maintain strong internal control frameworks, financial policies, and governance structures. Ensure compliance with audit requirements, regulatory standards, and accounting principles. Lead external audit processes and act as the primary liaison with auditors, regulators, and external partners. Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks. Process Improvement & Systems Leadership Drive continuous improvement across financial operations through process optimization and automation. Lead the evaluation, implementation, and enhancement of financial systems, ERP platforms, and technology solutions. Standardize financial processes and reporting across business units to improve efficiency and scalability. Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation. Provide coaching, professional development, and succession planning to support team growth. Establish clear performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback. Build strong cross‑functional relationships and collaborate effectively with operational leaders. What You Will Bring Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred. CPA designation (CA, CMA, or CGA) required. 10+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Proven experience leading finance teams and managing complex financial operations in a dynamic environment. Experience supporting organizational growth, transformation, or change initiatives is highly valued. Industry‑specific experience (as relevant) is an asset. Technical Expertise Expert knowledge of IFRS and/or GAAP with the ability to navigate complex accounting issues. Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, audit processes, and internal controls. Advanced proficiency with financial systems, ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite), and business intelligence tools. Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical capabilities. Experience with system implementations and process automation.
