Overview Sr. Software Engineer, Cloud OTA at Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies. Role focuses on designing, developing, and scaling backend systems powering over-the-air (OTA) updates, with an emphasis on distributed systems, high availability, and performance optimization using AWS architecture. Role Summary Regular software updates are at the core of RV Tech’s identity. Our OTA Cloud team develops and maintains the full stack infrastructure required to enable hundreds of thousands of updates every day consistently and reliably. As a Senior Backend Engineer on the OTA Cloud team, you will design, develop, and scale backend systems powering OTA update capabilities. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, and efficient backend systems for OTA updates. Architect and implement solutions using AWS services, including EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, and RDS. Optimize system performance and ensure high availability, scalability, and security. Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, GraphQL endpoints, and microservices. Implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software. Write clean, well-documented, and testable code. Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers. Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies. Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues. Contribute to the improvement of software development processes and best practices. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. 5+ years of backend software development experience. Strong proficiency in Java, Python, or Go. Extensive experience with AWS services and architecture, including hands-on design and deployment on AWS. Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and RESTful API design. Experience with relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB) databases. Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog. Strong understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices. Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Developer). Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation). Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. Experience with performance testing and optimization. Familiarity with OTA update systems or embedded systems. Pay and Benefits Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $146,900 - $183,600 (actual compensation based on experience, location, and other factors).Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Vancouver and Toronto Based Applicants: 108,200 CAD - 135,300 CAD (actual compensation based on experience, location, and other factors).
