Verafin – Cloud Developer (Check Fraud Data Team) Nasdaq, St John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada We’re looking for a Senior Software Developer to join our team, reporting to the Senior Manager of Software Development (Check Fraud Data Team) . In this role, you’ll help shape how we build secure, scalable cloud solutions that power Nasdaq Verafin’s industry‑leading fraud detection technology and protect financial institutions worldwide. Our team’s mission is to build and optimize systems that deliver critical check image data – such as hashes, TIFF images, and OCR outputs – that fuel Nasdaq Verafin’s fraud detection capabilities. We focus on improving performance, scalability, and reliability of these pipelines, while exploring innovative ways to leverage visual data for advanced machine learning models. What You’ll Do Design and maintain secure, automated cloud infrastructure using AWS and modern DevOps tools like Terraform and CloudFormation. Build and operationalize scalable application configurations and deployment pipelines. Collaborate with engineering and product teams to deliver high‑performance, secure features. Continuously monitor and improve application and infrastructure health through innovative solutions. Stay current with AWS advancements and emerging cloud technologies. What You’ll Bring A university degree or college diploma in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. 2+ years’ experience in Software Development. At least 1‑year hands‑on experience designing and building systems using AWS (or completion of AWS Cloud Practitioner certification). A strong grasp of microservices, data lakes, distributed systems, and multi‑account architecture. Proficiency in Java, Python, and Bash for developing and automating cloud‑based solutions. Hands‑on experience with Linux environments, virtualization, and network administration. Solid understanding of security principles to ensure robust and secure infrastructure. Nice to Have AWS certifications would be an asset. Experience working with AWS API gateway. This position will be located in St. John’s or Toronto , and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in‑office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
