Sr. Director - Cardiometabolic Health, Medical Affairs Join us as the Sr. Director of Cardiometabolic Health Medical Affairs at Eli Lilly and Company. Reporting to senior leadership, you will provide medical and scientific leadership for the Therapeutic Area strategy, partner with cross‑functional teams, and manage a team of Scientific Advisors, MSLs, and RWE leads. Overview The Sr. Director is responsible for setting the vision for the TA, driving scientific depth, fostering inclusion, and ensuring successful commercialization of CMH assets. Primary Responsibilities Define and execute strategic integration of TA capabilities across brands. Partner with leadership to efficiently deliver business plans, coordinate resources, and maintain TA/brand health. Drive continuous evolution of medical capabilities and provide coaching to build scientific depth and agility. Create an inclusive culture that encourages shared learning and best‑practice integration across the business unit. Oversee planning, implementation, and outcome measurement of TA strategies and tactics. Lead medical affairs activities, including product strategy formulation, support for marketed products, and medical content ownership for the area. Provide review of external donation, sponsorship, and grant requests in collaboration with the medical affairs leadership team. Lead performance management, including salary inputs, talent assessment, and succession planning for staff. Model and coach leadership behaviors, offering feedback and mentorship. Foster a diverse and inclusive leadership mindset, manage risk, and support reward & recognition mechanisms. Measure and balance team capacity to ensure optimal staffing for launch and lifecycle medical objectives. Partner with broader medical affairs operations (medical information, education, MSLs, regulatory) to meet holistic objectives. Ensure staff training, compliance, and quality processes, and provide guidance on compliance issues. Minimum Education & Qualification Requirements PhD or MD (or equivalent) required. 8+ years of medical affairs experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Leadership experience with demonstrable results and strong interpersonal skills. Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing abilities. Business acumen and capability to apply business principles to the portfolio. Cross‑functional partnership experience across all organizational levels. Strong problem‑solving, judgment, and change‑management skills. Experience leading organizational change and broad strategic initiatives. Other Information / Additional Preferences Experience in the cardiometabolic health therapeutic area preferred. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required. Compensation and Benefits Actual compensation will depend on education, experience, skills, and location. The anticipated base salary range is $155,250 – $227,700 . Full‑time employees may also be eligible for a bonus program.
