Job Title: Race Director - Eastern Canada


Location: Must be based in eastern Canada with the ability to readily travel to our event venues in Ontario for both prep work and event days – work from home day-to-day


Reports to: Owner/Event Director


Salary Range: $48,000 to $60,000 annually (based on experience) + health benefits and flex time 


Term & Hours: Full-Time/Permanent with a flexible off-season schedule


Sinister Sports hosts some of the most challenging and exciting endurance races in Canada, and we are passionate about helping people surpass their goals. Our team needs a positive, driven, self-starting individual for the role of Race Director - Eastern Canada to manage our new eastern events. We offer a friendly, relaxed, and vibrant environment and, above all, we want to find a good fit with our employees. 


Our annual cycle is several months of planning followed by intense periods of implementation during our event season. Everyone is hands-on in our business, and all crew members contribute where needed when preparing for an event. We are organized, efficient, and systematic in our approach, while being open to new ideas. Travel to and working at each event is mandatory. The Race Director handles a variety of management responsibilities, and must thrive in a leadership role within a small team, while being self-sufficient enough to work independently. We are seeking someone with the following attributes:


Natural Leader

  • Must be adaptable to the organic nature of event management, including occasional long days, and making decisions as unforeseen opportunities and challenges arise
  • Analyze and make recommendations on how to improve our operation
  • Experience in managing people with strong diplomacy skills


Ambassador

  • Actively promote and be a spokesperson for our events, including representing our sponsors
  • Act as a Race Director during our events to ensure they run smoothly
  • Attending meetings and work with stakeholders, including government agencies


Administrator  

  • Direct staff and resources, and ensure that the event crew has the resources to fulfill their roles
  • Solid experience with Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, or similar software
  • Organized and can help keep the team on track
  • While this is a director position, you cannot be shy about day-to-day hands-on work


Other Assets - we will consider anyone with solid experience, but an ideal candidate will have:

  • 1+ years of project management experience and 2+ years of event management experience 
  • Bilingual French and English is a strong asset in this role
  • Physically fit, and able to help with course scouting / route planning
