We are looking for committed and talented Data Engineers to join our InformationX team – the heart of DigitalX. As an InformationX Data Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring our data‑driven systems are operational, scalable, and continually contain the data needed to drive business value. Purpose and Scope: Posit Support Engineer In this role, you will lead, design, build, and maintain our data infrastructure. Your expertise in data engineering across multiple platforms – including Posit, Azure/AWS Cloud Data Warehousing, Databricks, PySpark, SQL, Business Intelligence (Qlik), and application management – will enable data‑driven decision‑making. You will work with small agile teams focused on delivering value, building, maintaining, and enhancing strategic systems across the organization. Qualifications Strong communication and collaboration skills, coupled with excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail. Subject Matter Expertise: deep understanding of data architecture/engineering/operations and data modeling (e.g., data vault, dimensional modeling). Experience within the Life Sciences/Pharma/Manufacturing industry is preferred. Proven experience building robust data pipelines; experience with near‑real‑time processing is a plus. Strong coding skills – Python, PySpark, SQL or R. Experience across multiple platforms: AWS, Azure, Databricks, Docker, Kubernetes or Change Data Capture (e.g., Fivetran) – preferred. Expertise in building data pipelines and strong understanding of data management best practices. Proficiency in network architecture and security concepts. Experience with data analytics practices and techniques. Agile development experience – sprint planning, stand‑ups, retrospectives. Familiarity with other cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and their data services. Analytical thinking – leading ad‑hoc analyses, identifying performance gaps, fostering continuous improvement. Adherence to DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines for continuous delivery. Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements. Responsibilities Platform Management Conduct health checks on the Posit platform and oversee application access and initial setup for Posit Workbench and Connect. Manage installation, upgrades, and product updates for Posit packages, Workbench, Connect, and PostgreSQL. Deployment and Access Deploy applications in production environments and set up application access along with Active Directory groups for users. Configure global environment variables for dashboards and set up service accounts or SQL IDs. Content Scheduling and Security Schedule content for Shiny, Markdown, and API applications. Perform security checks for cross‑environment connections and hardcoded credentials. Troubleshooting and Performance Tuning Troubleshoot deployment issues including logs, connection problems, and token errors. Scale and tune RStudio application performance, addressing runtime changes and timeout errors. Conduct root‑cause analysis for server issues affecting multiple users. User Management and Cleanup Clean up inactive user licenses for Posit Workbench and Connect. Monitor and manage availability of servers, applications, filesystems, and databases. Post‑Patching and Security Management Perform post‑patching checkout for production and non‑production environments. Rotate passwords for LDAP or CIFS service accounts using CyberArk and manage SSL certificates and product license renewals. Coordinate with third‑party partners for debugging and best‑practice implementation. Design, develop, and implement robust and scalable data analytics using modern technologies. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Commercial, Manufacturing, Medical, FoundationX, GrowthX, etc.) to translate user needs into technical solutions. Provide technical support to internal users, troubleshooting complex issues and ensuring system uptime. Champion continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance, security, and maintainability of data and platform architecture. Participate in continuous delivery pipelines, adhering to DevOps best practices for version control, automation, and deployment. Leverage knowledge of data engineering principles to integrate with existing pipelines and explore new data utilization possibilities. Stay up‑to‑date with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering and cloud platforms. Experience Proven experience in a Posit server environment, including design, installation, and maintenance of Posit Workbench and Connect. Strong proficiency with Posit Package Manager and experience setting up and maintaining containers for R packages and versions, with knowledge of Kubernetes architecture and pod management. Proficient in Unix/Linux command line skills, including the vi editor. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, specifically hosting Posit environments on AWS and Azure, experience with Redshift, RHEL, and Ubuntu. Experience with R and Python programming, including relevant R packages and Python libraries for data analysis and visualization. Knowledge of statistical analysis and troubleshooting end‑user issues.
