About The Role Reporting to the Assistant Regional Controller, the Operations Accounting Clerk will work on accounting and transactional support for construction projects in the transit and heavy civil sectors of construction (General Contracting). The Operations Accounting Clerk will be responsible for ensuring compliance with project contractual terms and conditions, union agreements, and tax legislation; and as a representative of the Operations Accounting function, will work closely with Project Coordinators and Project Managers to strengthen internal relationships and meet internal client requirements. This role requires experience and understanding in construction accounting. Responsibilities Assist with general transactional accounting processes and month‑end procedures. Provide support with the administration of sub‑trade contracts in adherence with company policy. Enter data for owner progress billings (including change orders), ensuring complete, accurate, and timely billings. Complete timekeeping entries and assist with the creation of regular LEMS reporting in line with owner requirements, ensuring compliance with union agreements and labour standards. Provide support for accounts receivable, collections, and deposit of payments as required. Possess an awareness of company policies, procedures, and internal controls at the project level, including project setup and cost accounting. Demonstrate an awareness of project contractual terms and conditions in relation to project setup and execution, billing requirements, costing, tax compliance, and labour standards. Qualifications And Experience Degree or Diploma from a University or Business College in an accounting or finance related program. Experience of 5 years in accounting or project administration or contract administration. Minimum of two years’ experience working within a General Contracting or similar environment. Accuracy and attention to detail while also being deadline oriented. Basic understanding of accounting and job costing principles. Working knowledge of SAP and an advanced understanding of Excel. Comfortable within a collaborative, team‑oriented environment with interactivity between many different stakeholders. Unassuming approach and willingness to express concerns to senior leaders where required. Interest in pursuing CPA is an asset but not a requirement.
