Your New Role:

You will lead the Cyber Security and Compliance team by coaching, and inspiring ownership while also actively participating in the implementation of these processes. Client is seeking someone with a builder mindset, confident in managing day-to-day operations, excelling at creating essential reporting, and passionate about serving as a process evangelist. Establishing trust and building strong, authentic, and productive relationships within the organization and with key stakeholders is critical for this role. As a leader in the compliance space, you will effectively engage and collaborate with leaders across the organization to develop, define, and build on innovative ideas and business priorities.


The Vice President of Information Security, Risk and Compliance is responsible for the continuous update and execution of Canada's information security strategy, focused on mitigating risk for the systems containing Canada data. You will drive to deliver change across the system to ensure security is an enabler to mission. This includes improving and maintaining a security management program that governs the creation, administration, and oversight of enterprise-wide information security activities. As part of the information security program, this role is responsible for the improvement, implementation, and management of areas including enterprise information security services, cyber resilience, information security governance, and information security risk management.


The incumbent reports to the Senior Vice President, Technology, and works closely and collaboratively with other department heads to provide organization-wide direction in areas of policy and planning for data processing, security, and related functions.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a program to comply with privacy, confidentiality, and information-security-related laws and regulations, and company policies and objectives.
  • Proactively anticipate and direct program changes to support continued compliance with the evolving information management and data protection with objectives.
  • Establish an information management and protection framework for an effective enterprise-wide information governance program ("program") and direct day-to-day activities, including program objectives, policies, procedures, training, and communication. Develop methods for demonstrating success through metrics, key performance indicators, and third-party assessments.
  • Identify information management and protection laws and regulations and implement actions to ensure compliance. Effectively represent the IT organization’s positions and advocate internal and external policy consistent with company objectives.
  • Create internal partnerships with key stakeholders, such as audit services, business services, finance, human resources, and legal services, to influence and align business-area actions that are needed to achieve program objectives.
  • Manage and report on external stakeholders, such as suppliers/vendors, ensuring their policies and practices are aligned with organizational programs and Service Level performance.
  • Manage other duties including budgeting, IT Operations.
  • Lead and manage Vendor Management and analysis.
  • Develop and deliver a targeted vendor savings plan.
  • Responsible for improving a strategic and comprehensive information security program that defines, develops, maintains, and implements controls, policies, and processes that enable consistent, effective information security practices for systems through close collaboration with both internal stakeholders as well as external auditors.
  • Member of the team that initiates, facilitates, and promotes activities to foster information security awareness within the organization.
  • Responsible for evaluating security trends, evolving threats, risks, and vulnerabilities and remediates and/or applies tools to mitigate risk as necessary.
  • Works with all members of the Technology team to maintain and update all IT controls, standard procedures, policies, and enforcement of processes to enable compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures the department is aligned with business processes, tactical planning, and strategic vision.
  • Direct and architect the security of the cloud infrastructure environment supporting production systems and its security, availability, and optimal performance.
  • Architect and regularly test Incident Response, Disaster Recovery & Business continuity plans.
  • Run the Cybersecurity Governance Committees along with preparing relevant presentations and reports.
  • Take ownership of key Cybersecurity/Compliance/Risk Projects.



What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Technology, or related field.
  • Master of Science in Computer Sciences or Information Technology is an asset.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or similar certification required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience that includes designing and implementing an enterprise information security strategy and program.
  • At least five years of related experience in a Senior Management role in an IT/SaaS Infrastructure environment.
  • Strategic Planning (build, communicate, implement, achieve results).
  • Experience designing, implementing, and supporting Enterprise Infrastructure Technologies and Platforms including VMware Private Cloud, Azure, Cisco, Palo Alto, Office 365.
  • Expertise in information security, technology, and risk management is essential. Equally significant and critical qualifications include business and financial acumen, the ability to thrive in a dynamic service-oriented environment, excellent leadership abilities and management skills with a proven record of functional transformation, change mastery and management, and budget and resource management. Be a strategic thinker and results-oriented leader driven by enabling the business through a risk-management and customer-centric approach.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships and partnerships with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels.
  • Effective time management skills and strong working knowledge of Project Management methodologies.
  • Superior, proven oral and written communications skills, skilled at making presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Positive can-do and take-charge attitude capable of working as part of a team and independently.
