Responsible for educating the students in his/her charge and working with students, parents, other teachers, and school staff to achieve the goals outlined in NORTH CARIBOU LAKE EDUCATION AUTHORITY BOARD. In addition to programming, teaching, and supervising, the teacher shall work as part of the school staff on related activities such as sports, curriculum development, and supervision of other students.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Perform the classroom teacher's duties and responsibilities in delivering daily lesson plans.

· Functions as an employee of NCLFN Elementary School in terms of confidentiality and professional ethics.

· To conduct an organized and professional classroom.

· To encourage students in the pursuit of learning.

· Complete daily attendance registers and ensure that all students are accounted for.

· Treat all students equitably to accommodate their differences and respect their diversity.

· To develop acceptable behaviour for the school, community, and students and maintain that level within the school environment.

· Report all activities and concerns regarding students, the classroom, or the school environment to the principal.

· To supervise students at any time.

· Other duties and responsibilities are assigned by the principal and described in the NCLEA School Policy and Procedure Manual.

Qualifications/Terms & Conditions

· A valid Teacher Certificate from a province in Canada, equivalent to an OCT.

· Additional Qualifications Special Education part I, II & III or Special Education Specialist, and one of Teaching Students with Behavioural Needs, Teaching Students with Communication Needs (Autism Spectrum Disorder/Learning Disability) is an asset but not necessary.

· Knowledge and awareness of Oji-Cree language and culture is an advantage but optional.

· Demonstrated initiative and skills in the following areas: relationship and community building, educational leadership, communication, conflict resolution, creativity, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management.

· Expert-level written and oral communication skills.

· Demonstrated experience in instructing students with varied learning styles and levels of mastery.

· Knowledge of and commitment to the core curriculum.

· Copies of practice teaching reports and performance appraisals, if available but not required.
