Financial Crimes Compliance Analyst, AVP Join to apply for the Financial Crimes Compliance Analyst, AVP role at State Street . Who We Are Looking For The Financial Crimes Compliance Analyst reports directly to the Canada Chief AML Officer, VP and plays a key role in supporting the successful implementation of the AML and Sanctions Compliance Program across State Street Canada legal entities. The candidate assists in developing, implementing and enhancing the AML and Sanctions policies, procedures and controls in accordance with local regulations and internal global policy requirements. Acting as the local Canada FCC subject‑matter expert, the Analyst is accountable for keeping business personnel apprised of FCC compliance policies and regulatory obligations; overseeing AML & Sanctions program reporting preparation for each State Street Canada Legal Entity; completing regulatory Sanctions blocked reporting to applicable authorities including the RCMP and FINTRAC; and supporting the Canada Chief AML Officer. This role can be performed in a hybrid model, balancing work from home and in‑office as required. What You Will Be Responsible For Monitor and evaluate changes in AML and Sanctions laws, regulations and supervisory guidance, analyze business and internal policy impact and maintain the AML and Sanctions Canada Regulatory Obligations Inventory. Participate in various committees, working groups and industry associations to influence Global AML and Sanctions policies and procedures to ensure local Canadian requirements are documented and met. Oversee the preparation of the AML and Sanctions Canada Program reporting, including a quarterly Dashboard Report for each State Street Canada Legal Entity, highlighting areas of risk; reports are presented to various legal entity boards and senior management. Review sanctions escalations to determine applicability in accordance with Canadian Sanctions legislation and, as applicable, complete Sanctions Blocked Reporting to RCMP and FINTRAC. Act as a resource and escalation point for Canadian Business Units, providing advice and guidance. Support Business Unit management for concerns, policy changes, emerging issues, projects and audit/regulatory examinations. Advise on resolution of inquiries during onboarding, periodic reviews and screening (PEP/Negative News/Sanctions) per Canada AML and Sanctions regulatory requirements and global policies. Partner with Compliance Risk Testing Team and Business Controls Team to identify high‑risk areas requiring monitoring and testing. Oversee remediation efforts by Business Units to ensure risks are mitigated and controls are effective per internal policies and regulatory expectations. Review and analyze referrals and escalations received from the financial intelligence unit. Participate in internal audit reviews and regulatory assessments and examinations as required. What We Value Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills. Ability to communicate and collaborate with business partners globally. Knowledge of and experience with Canada AML and Sanctions regulations. Knowledge of MS Office Suite applications. Familiarity with transactional surveillance processes and systems. Knowledge of SWIFT MT/MX payments is an asset. Regulatory reporting: FINTRAC STR and EFT Reports, CIRO/OSFI filings. Education & Preferred Qualifications Post‑secondary education in a relevant field and/or equivalent work experience required. Preferred – Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics or Finance or equivalent work experience with a focus in a related field (e.g., Finance and Securities Industry). Certified Anti‑Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification, or willingness to obtain. 3‑5 years of experience in AML or a similar role in the financial services industry. Solid knowledge of the Canada Anti‑Money Laundering and Sanctions Regulations and KYC best practices. Familiarity with the custody services and securities dealer industries.
