Posting Overview:

This is an internal/external posting. First preference will be given to qualified L.K.D.S.B. permanent Secondary teachers.

Reporting to the System Coordinator of Alternative and Continuing Education, the Summer FNMI Integrated Arts Teacher will provide an FNMI Integrated Arts (NAC1O) program employing a land-based education approach. The program will also include activities that support the transition of students from grade eight to nine. The program will take place in the First Nations community (site to be determined) as well as at the local LKDSB secondary school. Adult learners who are close relatives of enrolled students may also register for the program upon the approval of the System Coordinator. The program is conditional on sufficient enrollment.

Qualifications/Experience:

• Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification required;

• Knowledge of and experience teaching various arts disciplines that explore or reflect FNMI perspectives, culture, and traditions preferred;

• Knowledge of and experience teaching land-based educational approaches preferred;

• Knowledge of Kettle and Stony Point, Bkejwanong, or Aamjiwnaang and their geographical features an asset;

• Experience working with Indigenous students an asset.

Position Effective Date & Length - Duration & Schedule:

Four positions available.

July 2 to July 29, 2024, 5.5 hours/day

Rate: $57.01 per hour
