The Opportunity We are currently seeking an Environmental/Chemical Engineering Co‑op Student to join our Environment Team in Sudbury, ON. This opportunity is a fixed‑term co‑op position, for 8 months in duration, beginning January 2026. As an Environmental/Chemical Engineering Co‑op Student, you will undertake the duties required to assist the Environment department mainly in the air quality regulatory requirements. Although previous experience in mining or an industrial setting is considered an asset, we also appreciate that diversity of thought comes from our differences – and that’s what makes us great Additionally, in this position, you will: Follow Vale’s Safety Policies, Programs and Legislative Standards. Prepare and implement a personal safety plan. Work collaboratively with site personnel to ensure compliance with all facility traffic plans and site‑specific safety requirements. Implement focused monitoring and sampling programs related to air quality (road dust sampling, SO2 mobile sampling, in‑plant TSP monitoring, etc.) independently as assigned. Data screening and analysis for field data. Manage and assess data on an ongoing basis. Prepare comprehensive technical reports for each project assigned. Use engineering principles and education to update or suggest any improvements to the monitoring programs or procedures, including any new software now being used in academia. Have other opportunities to see Vale’s operation and learn about environmental projects/activities. About You Education: Completed second year or third year and will be enrolled in a post‑secondary program related to Environmental Science or Chemical/Environmental Engineering for the completion of their studies. Skills Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment Maintain a high level of professional conduct Must be obsessed with safety and risk Demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work Ability to do outdoor physical work Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite of Programs (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) Familiarity with ArcGIS or other spatial analysis software is an asset Must have a valid G Driver’s License What We Offer You Competitive compensation Work culture dedicated to safety, diversity & inclusion, and career growth Online training and career development opportunities Opportunities to build your network and lots of fun All Personal Protective Equipment is provided upon hire.
