We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our Transportation team. The position of Engineer in Training (EIT) supports our asset management programs for highway surfaces and culvert assets in the Yukon. This includes spending the summer season (May–September) mainly in the field conducting condition inspections throughout the territory on different transportation assets. The incumbent will spend the winter months mainly in the office where they will assist in developing plans for future rehabilitation projects. Under the direction of a Supervising Engineer/Mentor, the purpose of the Engineer in Training position will provide incumbents with supervised work experience, while continually increasing responsibilities to a professional level. By completing separate assignments which offer a variety of technical work and training opportunities, the incumbent will be exposed to engineering problems and solutions which will provide a solid career foundation and appropriate work experience toward registration as a professional engineer. Essential Qualifications Completion of degree in Civil Engineering or other engineering disciplines directly related to highways and transportation from an accredited Canadian University. Experience related to transportation asset management or transportation planning is an asset. Experience as an Engineer in Training or similar type position is considered an asset. Desired Knowledge, Skills And Suitability Strong administrative and communications skills. Strong written skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure. Conditions of Employment Must possess and maintain a valid Yukon Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent. Must be eligible for registration as an Engineer in Training with Engineers Yukon within 6 months of hiring. Proof of completion of Engineering degree from an accredited Canadian university within 6 months of hiring. Job Requirements Willingness to travel throughout Yukon.
