Role Summary:
Element5 is seeking a Procurement Agent to join our team in St. Thomas.
In this role, you will have responsibility for the sourcing, negotiation, order placement and tracking of key COGS materials within the organization. This role will be tied into both the forecasted and firm demand flows that drive material requirements. Materials that are commodity based will be monitored using market reports and suggested procurement strategies will be brought forth to the leadership team. Materials that are long-lead and project based shall be tracked within each project for both Order Confirmations and Down Payments.
Key Responsibilities:
Sourcing/Supplier Relationship Management
- Using industry best practice, develop sourcing strategies that align with our business needs. Create partnerships with key suppliers that align with our corporate strategy, culture and ethics while maintaining the best cost solutions that support schedule. Develop new suppliers following a documented approval process. Follow a documented Request for Quote process that supports Product Order placement using formalized quotes.
Commodity/Demand Planning
- For those materials that are commodity based, develop tools that monitor market conditions allowing Element5 to hedge on pricing and create favourable conditions. Also bring forth spot buy opportunities and actively source these from suppliers. Support contracts or service level agreements for these materials. Use historical data to predict future demand, while taking into consideration shelf life for numerous items.
Long Lead/Engineer To Order Project Buys
- Using developed processes, ensure that long lead procurement requirements are deemed critical path and tracked through each project. All specific order confirmations that form contacts and financial down payments must be monitored and turned around in a timely manner. Inbound materials from overseas are to be tracked in conjunction with the Logistics Coordinator.
Tracking/Status
- Ensure that both our ERP(CSI) system and our project update trackers reflect the current state of inbound delivery dates from suppliers. Using Smartsheet and the Bill of Materials ensure that the order delivery dates align with the need dates. Create a stop light chart with each supplier on deliveries with regular touch base points. This role shall work closely with the Project Planner to ensure alignment.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
- Develop and maintain a set of KPI’s that support our strategic goals and monitor the health of the supply chain. These KPI’s shall be created on regular intervals and published to the organization.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Combinations of experience and relevant training may be considered.
- Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office is a requirement.
- ERP experience is a requirement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are needed to interact with individuals, including outside suppliers and internal customers.
- Negotiation skills.
- Total cost of ownership knowledge.
- Strong analytical and decision-making ability.
- High energy, motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills, while being assertive in a team environment.
- Able to work independently and ensure tasks are completed.
- Highly collaborative.
- Detail oriented and organized, able to work on various projects at the same time.
- Able to work under stress and meet deadlines while maintaining a professional composure.
- Entrepreneurial mindset.
- Able to interface with external suppliers and present themselves in a professional manner.
Education and Experience:
- 5 to 7 years of experience in manufacturing environment.
- Experience in Job Shop or Engineer to Order environment are an asset.
- Previous experience with commodity buying is an asset.
- Previous experience with Demand Planning and Sales & Operations Planning are an asset.
- Experience with steel/metal shops is an asset.
- Experience with Infor ERP systems is an asset.
- Knowledge of the construction or building industry is an asset.
- High School Diploma required.
- Post-secondary education in Materials Management or Operations is preferred.
- Continuing education courses are an asset.
Environment:
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
- Working in front of a computer monitor for long periods of time.
- Working on the shop floor around production equipment, machinery and noise.
