Are you a graphic designer with experience working with a planning team where your ability to create captivating visuals brings to life a community's / an Elder's / a youth's story? Do you like working in print and online mediums, adapting your designs to reflect each client's needs? We offer a variety of services to communities, including comprehensive/ strategic planning, research, decision analysis, communication, facilitation, and training. Job Description

Reporting to Jeff Cook, Principal and working with an experienced team of planners, each day will vary as you will support a broad range of community planning processes and projects that have diverse design requirements – from creating a branding package for large, complex projects to working with a local community on designing a poster for the community hall.

Primary duties will include:

1.     Visual Storytelling: Create captivating visual materials, including brochures, reports, and web graphics, that effectively communicate our clients' unique narratives

2.     Collaborative Design: Work closely with our interdisciplinary team, collaborating with planners, project managers, researchers, and community members to adapt and update your designs in alignment with the cultural values and goals of the communities we serve

3.     Project Variety: Engage in a wide range of projects such as comprehensive community planning, land use planning, and governance planning offering fresh ideas and creative designs to capture a variety of information

4.     Print and Digital Materials: Create print-ready materials such as brochures, newsletters, posters, plans and reports, and optimize designs for digital platforms, including social media, websites, and email campaigns

5.     Branding and Identity: Play a pivotal role in refining and evolving the visual identity of our clients' projects and Beringia itself

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

·       A portfolio showcasing your creativity, design skills, and versatility

·       Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)

·       Strong communication skills, with the ability to interpret and express complex ideas visually

·       A passion for community engagement and a commitment to understanding diverse cultural perspectives

·       Motivated, independent, and driven, with excellent problem-solving skills

·       A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in graphic design

Desirable

·       Familiarity with WordPress and web design

·       Experience working with Indigenous communities or in culturally diverse contexts

·       Experience summarizing large datasets using innovative and visual strategies

·       Knowledge of print production and processes

·       Motion graphics and video editing skills
