Compensation - $110k - $150k/annually (+other benefits)

Position Overview: The Director of Finance will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the organization, including financial planning, management of financial risks, record-keeping, and financial reporting. This role is critical in providing strategic financial input to senior management, enhancing financial processes, and ensuring the financial health of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support organizational growth and sustainability.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies, plans, and forecasts.
  • Conduct financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting to support decision-making.

Budget Management:

  • Prepare, monitor, and manage the annual budget.
  • Ensure alignment of the budget with the organization's strategic objectives.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and manage financial risks, including the development of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure adequate internal controls are in place.

Compliance and Audit:

  • Oversee and coordinate all audit activities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and standards.

Accounting Operations:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial data and records.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor the finance team, promoting professional development and growth.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Communicate financial status and insights to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders.
  • Present financial information at board meetings and other organizational events.

Grant Management:

  • Oversee financial aspects of grant management, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
  • Work closely with the development team to ensure accurate grant financial tracking and reporting.

Strategic Initiatives:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations such as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Direct Corporate Accounting processes and ensures reports comply with regulatory and GAAP standards and practices
  • Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
