The Position: The Faculty of Science and Technology is hiring for the tenure‑track role of Assistant Professor in Environmental Nutrition. Reporting to the Chair, Centre for Science and to the Dean, this position has three key areas of responsibility as follows: Teaching and Learning The faculty member will be responsible for teaching and course administration for existing nutrition and health courses, and potential development of graduate or undergraduate level courses to contribute to programs in the faculty, with a focus on environmental nutrition. This includes the development and revision of course content and assessments using innovative pedagogical methods, providing support to students, and the supervision of academic experts involved in the course. Research and Scholarship The faculty member will be responsible for the development and maintenance of a sustained program of research that contributes to the overall strategic research goals of the faculty. This includes securing research funding, disseminating knowledge via traditional and innovative means, fostering research collaborations, and the supervision of undergraduate and graduate students. Service to the Community The faculty member will be responsible for service to the university and the larger community through committee participation, supporting initiatives, outreach, and service to their discipline. The Candidate of Choice: The successful candidate will have a PhD in Environmental Nutrition. A PhD in a related discipline may be considered. Applications are encouraged from scholars researching in the areas of environmental nutrition, nutritional science, human food systems, Indigenous health, food science and security, or public health nutrition. Applicants with experience in working with rural and northern communities, including Indigenous communities, that demonstrate a lived Indigenous worldview will be strongly considered. In line with the new AU strategic plan Like No Other and other university plans, including the Nukskahtowin plan, the FST is committed to interdisciplinary approaches to teaching, research, and engaged citizenship. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with researchers in FST, across AU, and externally. The candidate will have access to both undergraduate and graduate research students through our programs. The candidate will also have access to both physical and digital infrastructure in support of their research if required. We are seeking a candidate with an active research program that will be able to contribute to the delivery of current courses as well as the development of new courses to increase opportunities for learners. Evidence of teaching excellence is required, and familiarity with open and online education is encouraged. The candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to teamwork and student success.
