We design and manufacture suspension components for wheeled and tracked military vehicles and off‑highway machines used in construction, forestry, mining and agriculture. These components include passive and semi‑active dampers and hydro‑pneumatic struts. Horstman Canada is a CGRP‑registered corporation and a RENK group company. Horstman Canada is registered with the Government of Canada’s Controlled Goods Program. As such, all candidates will need to pass an extensive background check. Candidates who are not Permanent Residents or Citizens of Canada take a few months to complete this process. Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Logistics Coordinator to join our team. This is a full‑time permanent, on‑site position. The Logistics Supervisor will report to the Director of Operations and work in a closely knit team with Horstman staff across Horstman and wider Horstman Group and RENK companies. Pay Range: $60,000 – $75,000 Employment Type: Permanent, Full‑time, On‑site only Key Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate and schedule all internal and external transportation activities for freight shipments, ensuring timely delivery. Handle ASN (Advance Shipping Notification), customs paperwork, CERS – Canadian Customs paperwork, and commercial invoices for international taxes and tariffs. Complete and assist with all Bill of Lading (BOL), USMCA (NAFTA) tariff codes, and additional ASN documents. Prepare ACE, ACI and other dispatch related paperwork; manage customs documents and communicate with brokers, carriers, and customers as required. Handle shipping material requests and arrangements with carriers (UPS, DHL, FEDEX, etc.), including weight/size estimations, and prepare shipment paperwork packages. Coordinate local shipments supporting HCA process needs between suppliers and the plant. Respond to customer and supplier inquiries via phone and email in a professional and timely manner. Additional Responsibilities Maintain customer databases and internal systems to ensure data accuracy and consistency. Generate internal reports, including shipping reports and other required metrics. Collaborate with internal departments to facilitate smooth shipping and receiving operations and resolve potential issues. Adapt to evolving responsibilities in line with departmental needs and company priorities. Excel, Word and Outlook skills are essential. Lift truck and overhead crane license preferred. Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and other customer‑specific portals to initiate shipments and manage logistics. Analyze shipment performance data and identify improvement opportunities. Assist in resolving transportation operation issues. Determine best delivery methods and negotiate rates directly with vendors. Use barcode printers to create barcode labels. Support finance with FedEx invoices and other invoicing duties. Coordinate with vendors for short shipments, MRDRs, and invoice adjustments. Requirements Post‑secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience. Manage carrier portfolio and develop strong relationships to negotiate rates. Proactively communicate shipment details to carriers and internal teams. Work closely with senior management to define strategic direction. Collaborate with carriers, freight forwarders, and all shipping/receiving activities. Entrepreneurial spirit and interpersonal savvy. Sound analytical and critical‑thinking skills. Adept at thriving independently in a fast‑paced, deadline‑oriented environment with strong time‑management. Excellent negotiation skills and judgement. Prior transportation industry and/or logistics experience is an asset. Technical & Soft Skills Professional customer and team interaction: lead with empathy and by example. Effective independent critical thinking and effort management. Anticipate project needs, prioritize tasks and own responsibilities.
