As an engineer, you will enhance customer experiences, solve challenging problems, and design new solutions. As part of the Foundational Services: FI Middleware team , you will develop and enhance centralized services that connect customer financial institutions to Emburse products, enabling card issuance and expense management. You will be involved in all stages of the development cycle, from evaluating new feature requests to designing, building, testing and deploying product enhancements, to post-production support. What You Will Do Develop sophisticated software with minimal supervision Contribute to technical documentation and team/engineering presentations Mentor and guide junior developers Possibly supervise others or lead small to moderate projects Fix complex bugs and demonstrate advanced debugging skills Produce quality API documentation and ensure practices are followed Contribute to system design discussions in your area of specialty Participate in code reviews with expanded responsibilities Perform advanced refactoring Take responsibility for quality and maintainability of the product; identify areas for improvement Identify problems/risks in own work and others’ work Ensure SDLC processes are followed (agile practices, peer code reviews, release preparations) Partner with product and analytics to drive cross-functional requirements On occasion, may have on-call responsibilities Communicate clearly with the team; provide constructive feedback Learn industry jargon and business concepts to better understand the challenges our technology solves Raise roadblocks and update estimations as needed What You Will Bring 6+ years of software development experience; project lead experience preferred Experience in the financial industry with credit cards, payment processors, or bank partnerships is highly desirable Understanding of OWASP; PCI/PII compliance knowledge Strong experience with Python in a distributed web application environment (microservices, APIs, DB integration, queues, caches, containers, serverless) Experience with AWS services/APIs or equivalent cloud vendor OS X and Linux environment experience Experience designing/building JSON or REST services and APIs Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines Experience in an Agile development environment (e.g., Scrum) Experience with 3rd party APIs and integration architectures Experience with large-scale or distributed web applications Desirable: experience with data processing/data engineering, AI/ML service integrations, APIs or models How We Hire We value great candidate experiences and provide a transparent interview process.
