Emburse is known for its innovation and award‑winning technologies, and you will have access to strong engineering talent to grow your career here.As part of the Foundational Services: FI Middleware team, you will develop and enhance centralized services that connect customer financial institutions to Emburse products, enabling card issuance and expense management. You will be involved in all stages of the development cycle, from evaluating new feature requests to designing, building, testing and deploying product enhancements, to post-production support.What You Will DoDevelop sophisticated software with minimal supervisionContribute to technical documentation and team/engineering presentationsMentor and guide junior developersPossibly supervise others or lead small to moderate projectsFix complex bugs and demonstrate advanced debugging skillsProduce quality API documentation and ensure practices are followedContribute to system design discussions in your area of specialtyParticipate in code reviews with expanded responsibilitiesPerform advanced refactoringTake responsibility for quality and maintainability of the product; identify areas for improvementIdentify problems/risks in own work and others’ workEnsure SDLC processes are followed (agile practices, peer code reviews, release preparations)Partner with product and analytics to drive cross-functional requirementsOn occasion, may have on-call responsibilitiesCommunicate clearly with the team; provide constructive feedbackLearn industry jargon and business concepts to better understand the challenges our technology solvesRaise roadblocks and update estimations as neededWhat You Will Bring6+ years of software development experience; project lead experience preferredExperience in the financial industry with credit cards, payment processors, or bank partnerships is highly desirableUnderstanding of OWASP; PCI/PII compliance knowledgeStrong experience with Python in a distributed web application environment (microservices, APIs, DB integration, queues, caches, containers, serverless)Experience with AWS services/APIs or equivalent cloud vendorOS X and Linux environment experienceExperience designing/building JSON or REST services and APIsExperience with Git and CI/CD pipelinesExperience in an Agile development environment (e.g., Scrum)Experience with 3rd party APIs and integration architecturesExperience with large-scale or distributed web applicationsDesirable: experience with data processing/data engineering, AI/ML service integrations, APIs or modelsHow We HireWe value great candidate experiences and provide a transparent interview process.
