Electrical Designer

The Opportunity WSP is currently seeking an Electrical Designer with proficiency in REVIT MEP for 3D modelling to join the Centre Block Rehabilitation Project located in our Thornhill office. The person will report to the Electrical Design Lead and will be a key member of the Mechanical and Electrical Team, responsible for developing the design of electrical building systems through to completion of the design packages. What you can expect to do here Collaborate with Engineers and Designers to design, model, and coordinate electrical systems in REVIT – low voltage distribution, passive telecommunications, security, multi‑media, fire alarm/EVAC, lighting and lighting control systems. Undertake design calculations and prepare details for the systems from design development through construction documents. Work in a multidisciplinary team with close liaison with the electrical trade contractor in a collaborative design assist environment. Assist with and be responsible for the preparation of drawings for construction design packages. What you’ll bring to WSP Minimum 2 years electrical engineering and design experience using REVIT MEP 3D on building projects. Eligible for and working towards either P.Eng. or C.E.T. designation in Ontario. Design knowledge of LV distribution, fire alarm systems, lighting and control, and passive telecommunications. Experience working in different delivery models – CM, Design Build, P3 – is desirable. Knowledge of National Building Code of Canada and Ontario Building Code. Basic knowledge of LEED v4.0, ASHRAE and CSA/ULC standards. Good communication and interpersonal skills with a strong desire to collaborate and problem solve in an integrated team environment. Proficiency in REVIT MEP 3D modelling. Proficiency in MS Office applications. Hold or eligibility to obtain PSPC Reliability security clearance.
