**The Company**
Planview Utility Services is an engineering firm that provides engineering design, sub-surface investigation and geographical information related services to telecommunication companies and electric utilities. **The Position**
The Electrical Distribution Design Manager will lead projects from start to finish and be accountable and forward facing to the client. The manager will also supervise a team of designers, coordinators and technicians as well as work extensively with industry partners and project stakeholders.
**Responsibilities**
- Responsible for the day to day management of the team supporting our LDC (Local Distribution Company) portfolio, reporting to the Director, Utility Design
- Accountable for financial and project health, staffing, scheduling and mentoring of the team supporting the program
- Lead, mentor and coach junior design and project staff assuring the best and most efficient designs are created for the client
- Complete pole loading calculations using various approved software. Working knowledge of Ont Regulation 22.04 and applicable CSA, USF and client developed standards
- Design of underground and overhead electrical distribution infrastructure and circuitry (4kV - 44kV system voltages)
- Produce project estimates, quotation letters, construction scope descriptions, tender documentations, technical written specifications, and material take-offs,
- Preparation and submission of project approvals and design packages,
- Project schedule management and tracking,
- Review and authentication of design drawings,
- Able to attend client meetings within Southwestern and Central Ontario
**Requirements**:
- Working knowledge of USF and other associated standards, specifications and regulation as they relate to overhead and underground distribution design
- An Electrical Engineering Degree from a recognized college, technical institution, or university,
- A valid Professional Engineer or working towards designation within the Province of Ontario is preferred
- Minimum 4 years of experience working in the electric utility or related engineering environment, with experience in design and cost estimating of electrical distribution projects
- Past proven knowledge of budget and fiscal management of distribution design related projects
- Able to complete tender and technical document writing
- Great interpersonal skills with the ability to develop business relationships,
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving and analytical skills,
- Ability to prioritize and manage competing priorities with schedule and budget constraints,
- Strong collaborative skills and willingness to liaise with other disciplines (drafting, construction, survey, and civil) to ensure projects are accurate, compliant, on-time and on-budget,
**Preferred Skills**
- Experience with other utility companies (i.e., gas, telecom, fiber optic).
- Earlier consulting experience
- Past involvement in Transit or large-scale capital projects
**The Location**
Planview Utility Services has 3 offices - Markham, London and Ottawa. Our clients and their projects are based throughout the province. The preferred location for this position is within 1hr driving of London or Markham
