Payroll and Benefits Specialist Our client in the broader public sector is seeking a seasoned Payroll Specialist for a temporary assignment with the possibility of long-term. This hands‑on role ensures accurate, timely payroll processing and compliance with legislation and agreements. You’ll manage end‑to‑end payroll activities, validate data, handle deductions and benefits, and maintain adherence to organizational and regulatory standards. You will also collaborate with HR and Finance teams to resolve payroll discrepancies, respond to employee inquiries, support audits and reporting requirements, and contribute to process improvements that enhance payroll accuracy, efficiency, and service delivery. Qualifications Proven and demonstrated progressive payroll experience, including supervisory responsibilities. Experience with Workday payroll system. Experience managing internal payroll operations within complex environment. Solid understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, taxation, compliance and reporting requirements. Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills. PCP or PLP designation (or working toward) preferred.
