Intermediate Mechanical Engineer - Power Generation The Intermediate Mechanical Engineer role at WSP in Canada focuses on mechanical design for power generation projects across a range of technologies. Location: any Canadian office, with preference for Calgary, AB; Moncton, NB; Kitchener, ON. This is a full-time position. Overview Join our Energy subsector, supporting clients from coast to coast on projects from concept to detailed engineering. You will work on mechanical engineering deliverables in collaboration with disciplines to meet project goals and support multiple client types, including Independent Power Producers, Municipal Electric Utilities, Investor-Owned Utilities, Contractors, and Developers. Projects may involve biomass, geothermal, hydrogen, renewable natural gas, fossil fuel, carbon capture, battery energy storage, and hydro systems. What you can expect to do here Design mechanical piping and equipment for renewable and fossil power generation facilities Prepare mechanical equipment and packaged equipment specifications and data sheets, RFQs, and technical bid evaluations Review mechanical equipment vendor drawings and data; interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, and detailers/designers Ensure effective communications with other engineering disciplines Prepare construction/installation scopes of work for mechanical systems Participate in the development of PFDs and P&IDs Perform piping design activities including sizing, pressure drop calculations, stress analysis, and pipe support design Mentor and guide less experienced engineers What you’ll bring to WSP (Qualifications) University Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering 5+ years of relevant mechanical engineering design experience within the EPCM environment, ideally with a focus on industrial facilities Currently licensed professional engineer (P.Eng, Ing, PE) in the province of practice Experience within the consulting environment is desirable Previous experience with power plant or renewable natural gas plant design is desirable Working knowledge of Microstation or AutoCAD Working knowledge of SmartPlant 3D or CADWorx Experience using Caesar II or AutoPipe Experience using Thermoflow Salary and Benefits Salary range (in British Columbia): $96,200 – $132,200. The final salary may vary based on education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, and business needs. The range may change for business purposes.
