The Department of Health and Physical Education offers a fresh approach to health and physical education that is unique to Western Canada. Mount Royal's distinctive four-year program emphasizes a comprehensive approach to health and physical education while providing students with valuable hands‑on experiential learning opportunities in‑and outside the classroom. The Department currently offers a Bachelor of Health and Physical Education degree with specializations in four majors (Athletic Therapy, Ecotourism and Outdoor Leadership, Physical Literacy, and Sport and Recreation Management) and a Post Bachelor’s certificate in Athletic Therapy. About the Role New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/scholarship/service pattern (TSS) focuses on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member be involved in a research program as well as service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/service pattern (TS) focuses on teaching and service only. The successful candidate for this role will be hired into the teaching/service pattern (TS). The successful candidate will teach the equivalent of eight three‑credit‑hour courses per academic year (typically four courses in each of the fall and winter semesters). The candidate may also have coordination responsibilities for the Athletic Therapy program up to a maximum of two course releases. The department is seeking an individual with an ability to teach in Athletic Therapy and related areas of specialization. All applicants must be a certified Athletic Therapist in Canada in good standing and have completed a Master’s degree, however a PhD is preferred. Experience with program coordination is an asset.
