Senior Level Designer – Highdive. Join us on our journey and help us collaborate towards our newly announced game: Blood Message. It is set in historical China and features a realistic visual style and authentic traditional combat gameplay. The project is making use of Unreal Engine 5 and is co-developed in collaboration between Montreal and our main studio in China. The position is currently open to candidates in Montreal or Toronto. Responsibilities Planifier la conception des niveaux à l'aide de cartes en 2D, de diagrammes et de documents écrits afin d'en définir la structure et le déroulement. Concevoir et construire des niveaux de jeu, y compris la disposition, le rythme et la courbe de difficulté, afin de créer une expérience immersive. Concevoir des niveaux de haute qualité qui améliorent l'expérience du joueur, en se concentrant sur les cinématiques et les jeux narratifs. Scénariser les événements et les interactions pour améliorer le gameplay, comme les rencontres avec les ennemis ou les moments narratifs. Former et encadrer le personnel sur la conception technique des niveaux, les outils et les meilleures pratiques afin de favoriser le développement de l'équipe. Planning level design using 2D maps, diagrams, and written documentation to outline the structure and flow. Designing and building game levels, including layout, pacing, and difficulty curve, to create an immersive experience. Designing high-quality level layouts that enhance the player's experience, focusing on cinematic and narrative-driven gameplay. Scripting events and interactions to enhance gameplay, such as enemy encounters or narrative moments. Collaborating with art, programming, and design teams to ensure a cohesive game experience, particularly in aligning with the game's historical and cultural setting. Communicating design intent through leading discussions, reviews, and level-production meetings to align with the game's vision. Establishing standards, conventions, and metrics to ensure quality and consistency across levels. Educating and mentoring staff on technical level design, tools, and best practices to foster team growth. Qualifications 5 ans d'expérience dans la conception de niveaux pour les jeux, garantissant une expertise dans la création d'environnements immersifs. Experience shipping at least 2 games in a Level Design role, demonstrating a track record of successful projects. Familiarity with the single-player gaming landscape, particularly narrative-driven titles. Strong understanding of game mechanics, player psychology, and environmental storytelling, to create engaging and historically accurate levels. Strong collaboration skills, with an emphasis on ego-free teamwork to integrate feedback and ideas. A proactive attitude to grow, learn, and improve, in line with the studio's innovative culture. A deep understanding of Agile frameworks to rapidly iterate on ideas and/or prototypes.
