Do you thrive working with teams to develop collaborative solutions to today’s most urgent environmental challenges? We have a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Manager, Climate & Environment . The Manager will be responsible for executing the Environmental Sustainability Plan in alignment with YVR’s Strategic Plan and creating innovative new approaches to deliver on commitments and environmental targets. Reporting to the Director, Environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for guiding and mentoring a team of environmental professionals in developing, implementing and innovating environmental and waste management programs and strategies in line with achieving the organization’s strategic objectives, specifically to be a leader in sustainability. Key responsibilities Providing support and direction to the Climate & Environment Team – this includes creating clarity and alignment, developing and empowering performance, fostering teamwork and collaboration, supporting people to embrace change and innovation, hiring, coaching, motivating and supporting developmental activities, and conducting formal evaluations. Creatively developing and implementing programs, as well as, managing budgets, projects and consultants. Monitoring, evaluating, improving and communicating the organization’s environmental sustainability and noise goals and results, through collaboration with airport colleagues and partners, with Musqueam under our Friendship & Sustainability Agreement, and with our geographic and industry communities. Leading and implementing programs, policy and projects related to environment and sustainability, including reducing carbon emissions and increasing energy efficiency, water quality and conservation, waste management and circular economy, environmental assessment, contaminated sites, ecosystem health and noise mitigation and management. Key qualifications 8 years of recent, related progressive experience supplemented by a post-secondary degree in science, environmental studies, engineering or a related field and considerable experience working in an environmental management setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role and managing a team. Extensive knowledge of federal, provincial, and local environmental legislation and general awareness of Indigenous protocols. Well-developed critical thinking skills with the ability to influence acceptance and implement creative and innovative solutions. Proven ability to deliver projects on time and on budget, manage consultants, and liaise with industry, government officials and the public. Excellent multi-tasking and time management skills, including the ability to juggle and reprioritize based on business demands and priorities. This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. As part of our recruitment process, short-listed candidates may be required to participate in an assessment process. Salary Range: $102,880 to $154,320 per annum, based on 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity. Performance-Based Incentive: Eligible for an annual bonus target at 15% of your annual salary.
