About the Opportunity Methanex is currently seeking a Power Engineering Summer Student to join our team in Medicine Hat, AB . Positions are based on a three‑month or four‑month work term during the summer of 2026, depending on the student’s program schedule. Students will work a 12‑hour rotating shift schedule and meet required ABSA Power Engineering regulations. Responsibilities Perform unit rounds, monitor equipment, and assist in preparing equipment for maintenance. Participate in boiler water sampling and testing. Support the operator training program alongside a qualified shift operator. Gain steam time toward Third‑Class Power Engineering studies and experience utilities and process work. Qualifications and Experience Current enrollment in a two‑year Power Engineering Technology diploma program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4‑point scale. Valid Alberta Driver’s License. Mechanical aptitude. Successful completion of pre‑employment screening including background check, medical assessment, drug and alcohol screening. Desired Competencies Self‑motivated with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. Learning agility and ability to quickly retain and apply new information. Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, written and verbal communication. Strong listening skills and receptiveness to feedback. Commitment to Methanex Responsible Care environmental, health, and safety initiatives. Results‑oriented, problem‑solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
