Sports Shop Supervisor

UNEP SCBD – Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity Location: Montreal, Canada. Under the overall supervision of the Head of the Biodiversity Science, Policy and Governance Unit (BSPG) and the direct supervision of the Programme Management Officer (Marine, Coastal and Island Biodiversity), the incumbent will carry out the following functions: Organizes workshops/meetings/webinars Assists in coordinating planning, logistical arrangements, and follow‑up of workshops, expert meetings (in‑person and virtual), and webinars. Supports logistical coordination for the organization of workshops/meetings/webinars, ensuring alignment with organizational requirements. Liaises with stakeholders to initiate and follow‑up on actions such as recruitment, deployment, travel logistics, procurement, disbursement of funds, and host country agreements. Provides logistical and secretariat support during meetings; manages real‑time problem‑solving, liaises with service providers, distributes documents, and contributes substantively to preparation of meeting reports and information notes. Independently coordinates side events for major meetings (e.g., SBSTTA, COP, other MEAs). Manages administrative elements of work under protected areas and marine/islands work Assists with preparation, processing, and monitoring of contracts and consultancies, and supports related reporting requirements. Assists in recruitment of staff and consultants. Supports financial‑related aspects of these work areas, including for the Administration division. Maintains an up‑to‑date spreadsheet mapping external funds (project funds or grants) against disbursements, grant numbers, and agreements. Coordinates with Parties, other Governments and relevant organizations Prepares draft correspondence, including notifications and official letters, for review and clearance by supervisors. Assists in communications with workshop participants, governments, and partner organisations to ensure timely dissemination of information and resolution of queries. Assists in development of project proposals to be submitted to donors and partner organisations, ensuring compliance with templates and time‑frames. Coordinates and monitors timely submission, processing, and publication of workshop‑related documentation from Parties and stakeholders. Coordinates the production and management of documentation and information Reviews documentation for format, clarity, and consistency with UN style. Conducts background research of publicly available materials to support substantive planning. Assists in drafting and formatting workshop/meeting reports, information notes, and awareness‑raising materials. Assists with collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing. Assists with visualisations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures. Performs any other tasks as required. Competencies Professionalism – Knowledge and understanding of theories and concepts relevant to programme administration, analytical capacity, and in‑depth knowledge of the environment and sustainable development. Planning and Organising – Develop clear goals, prioritise activities, allocate resources efficiently, and monitor progress. Teamwork – Works collaboratively with colleagues, values others’ ideas, and shares credit for team accomplishments. Education High school diploma or equivalent. Supplementary training in relevant areas (environmental, social or political sciences, business administration, public administration, environmental management) is desirable. A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in programme or project administration (reduced to five years for candidates with a university degree). Experience in the field of environment or sustainable development, with MEAs or United Nations experience desirable. Experience supporting biodiversity or environmental programmes, projects, or organisations desirable. Experience with ERP systems, applying UNEP and CBD policies, and data analytics (one year or more) desirable. Languages – English is required; French is a working language. Qualifications and Education: Diploma or Certificate in Retail Operations (preferred). Completed high school education or equivalent. Abilities, Attributes and Experience: Previous retail merchandising and sales experience with excellent customer service skills. Demonstrated hockey knowledge, computer skills, and cash handling experience. Effective communication with all staff and customers. Willingness and ability to work flexible hours (evenings & weekends). Strong skate‑sharpening skills. Previous team supervision experience (preferred). Canadian Armed Forces Sports Coordinator – CFMWS The Canadian Armed Forces Sports Coordinator will coordinate the delivery and operation of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Sports program, supporting all CAF Sports programs, including the CAF Sports recognition program.
