We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to take science a step beyond by developing solutions for some of the worldu2019s toughest challenges, like protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe or helping find cures for cancer.**Location/Division Specific Information**Unity Lab Services is a business segment that supports the Customer Channels Group and provides critical outsourced on-site services at customer locations.This position is based out of Burnaby, Canada.**Discover Impactful Work:**This position is passionate about service delivery excellence within Unity Lab Services Specific activities relative to the job function include: operating customer procurement systems, stock inventories, media/reagent preparation and cell culture support operations.**A day in the Life:**Prepare high quality specialized media, including buffers, microbial agar plates, mammalian cell culture media, and antibioticsPerform specific tasks associated with media prep, including pH titration, osmolality adjustment, sterile filtration techniques, and aliquotsVerification, calibration, and use of common and specialized lab equipment including magnetic mixers, hot plates, micropipettors, autoclaves, balances, laminar flow and fume hoods, pH and conductivity meters, osmometers, blood gas analyzers, vacuum filtration, and Nitrogen gas linesCoordinates with Procurement and Sales Representatives on viable alternatives and lead timesFollows well-defined procedures as outlined by Best Practices, SOPs & work instructionsTake direction and communicates openly with Site Supervisors (and Team Lead) regarding daily duties. Makes decisions and uses available resources to meet customer requirements, independentlyPromotes personal growth and development by staying abreast of new policies and improvementsRaise customer concerns and quickly identifies the course of action with a goal of first call resolution within established turnaround timesRepresents Thermo Fisher Scientific at all times throughout customer locations, expertly and positively**Keys to Success:****Education**High school diploma or equivalent required.Bachelor''s degree strongly preferred**Experience**Ability to present and articulate points by verbal and written communications1-2 years of dynamic proven experience in applicable field with GXP experience preferredAbility to establish and champion positive customer relationships**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities**Strong interpersonal skills and proactive approach in all dutiesDemonstrate expertise in the ability to identify inefficiencies in any process and make recommendations for improvementDetail oriented, technically proficient, organized, problem solver, promotes team environmentWillingness to work overtime as the need arises**Physical Requirements / Work Environment**The role primarily involves working independently at customer sites, which may include areas with chemical-based allergens like penicillin and tetracycline. Personal protective equipment, such as lab coats, coveralls, facemasks, and steel-toe shoes, is often required. The position requires regular lifting of 30-40 lbs (up to 50 lbs occasionally) and using equipment like pushcarts and forklifts to move up to 100 lbs. Standing, walking, and manual material handling of chemical containers are frequent activities, sometimes in varied temperature environments.
