About the Role:

Express Employment Professionals is currently hiring a Payroll Specialist on behalf of our valued client in Red Deer, AB. If you are detail-oriented, have experience with payroll processing, and are looking to contribute to a dynamic team, this could be the perfect opportunity for you

As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payments for employees, and maintaining compliance with federal and provincial regulations. You will play a key role in supporting the overall HR and accounting functions, providing a critical service to the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for employees
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records
  • Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and taxes
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and address employee inquiries
  • Prepare and submit remittances for deductions (e.g., CPP, EI, taxes, etc.)
  • Assist with year-end reporting and filing (T4s, ROEs)
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
  • Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to ensure smooth operations


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing
  • Strong understanding of payroll systems and relevant regulations
  • Proficiency with payroll software (experience with (specific payroll software if applicable) is an asset)
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Certification in payroll (e.g., PCP) is an asset, but not required
