Job Description Responsibilities Develop missions and levels according to the global vision of the game, the characters’ type and the games’ objective Possess a comprehensive understanding of the design process including level design, weapons, AI, controls, UI, etc. Collaborate with other leads and producers on the implementation of cross discipline mechanics Become a contact point for other departments (Level Art, Cinematics, FX, Sound, Programmers, etc.) Work closely with level designers and programmers/artists/animators in the creation of single player content (levels, player mechanics, ai behaviors, scripted moments) Create and maintain high quality Level Design and Mission Design Documents Using the Unreal Blueprint tools to script triggers, combat, stealth gameplay, objectives and scripted events. Ability to use scripting tools to prototype gameplay experiences or debug technical issues Involved in the analysis of the needs of the design team Suggest creative new ideas and concepts Assists the game designer in the development and evolution of the game content Commit to deadlines and monthly milestones Help build better, more efficient processes with team Manage / mentor other Level Designers Use UNREAL 4 to create and debug content. Manage designers in the creation of single player content (levels, player mechanics, ai behaviors, scripted moments) Create and pitch high level ideas to the team Provide feedback to Production and help create development schedules for design Help manage task sign-off for design through software tools (clickup) Conduct performance reviews and regular employee one on ones Team player that is not afraid to get their hands dirty Qualifications Minimum 10 years of experience in level design with at least 5 years in a lead role Ability to design creative and interesting game levels utilizing 3D tools (UnrealEd, Maya, Max, or similar 3D editor) Must possess a strong working knowledge of game design systems Deep knowledge of Unreal’s Blueprint creation and troubleshoot Must possess a full understanding of the relationship between gameplay elements within the level and the overall game as well as the ways a player can respond to each gameplay element Passion for games and game development Ability to apply critical thinking and analytical skills to resolve complex issues Ability to meet deadlines designated for team projects Previous experience using Blueprints to create game mechanics Ability to conceptualize exciting level designs that will be satisfying to the player Ability to learn new tools quickly Some artistic background, formal or otherwise, 2D or 3D, is a big plus Strong verbal and written communication skills Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment with tight deadlines and evolving projects Must be able to work in Canada Additional Information 4 weeks vacation, 10 personal days, complete benefits paid 80% by employer.
