Our Fleet team is currently looking to add a Senior Fleet Manager to our Transmission Lines team, based in Winnipeg, MB. Reporting to the Vice President, Transmission Operations, this position is responsible for the strategic, operational, and project-based management of fleet assets across transmission construction projects. It ensures fleet readiness, regulatory compliance, cost-effective operations, and alignment with organizational and project goals and acts as a key liaison between Fleet, Operations, and Project Management, overseeing equipment lifecycle, maintenance programs, and vendor relationships. Duties and Responsibilities Lead planning, acquisition, and lifecycle management of fleet assets including light-duty vehicles, heavy equipment, and specialized transmission tools Align fleet operations with project schedules, emergency response needs, and long-term organizational goals Develop and promote effective work programs incorporating life-cycle costing and capital budget optimization to support decision-making on equipment allocation and replacement Manage fleet budgets including capital expenditures and operating costs Collaborate with Project and Construction Management to identify current and future equipment and maintenance personnel needs Act as the primary liaison between Fleet and Project teams to determine on-going needs and manage equipment requests / utilization Oversee, evaluate and enhance preventive and corrective maintenance programs across multiple shops (automotive, heavy duty, welding/fabrication, body, parts) while ensuring equipment reliability and availability Ensure compliance with Transport Canada, DOT, and utility-specific safety regulations Maintain accurate records for inspections, certifications, and environmental standards Support company-wide safety initiatives related to fleet operations Monitor idle time, downtime, and spare equipment costs Supervise fleet coordinators, mechanics, and logistics personnel Negotiate and manage contracts with equipment suppliers, leasing companies, and service providers Oversee vendor compliance and quality control inspections Implement and manage fleet management software and GPS tracking systems Generate reports on fleet utilization, fuel efficiency, downtime, and compliance metrics High school diploma (or equivalent) 7 years of fleet management experience, ideally in utility, transmission, or construction environments Experience with unionized environments and multi-shop operations Proven knowledge of fleet maintenance programs, regulatory codes, and equipment types Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills Proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and fleet management systems Preferred Skills / Qualifications Post-secondary degree or diploma in Logistics, Business Administration, or related field Trade designation or equivalent experience We offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that incorporates a complete range of employee benefits, including an RRSP matching program, to ensure you have the tools necessary to manage, maintain, and improve your health and wellbeing.
