Manager – New Partnerships & Merchant Engagement Join to apply for the Manager – New Partnerships & Merchant Engagement role at BMO As part of BMO’s North American Retail & Small Business Payments, the Partnerships team manages several existing partnerships and has the mandate to develop and grow new partnerships that are aligned with our strategic vision to provide value‑add benefits to our BMO credit cardholders. The Manager – New Partnerships & Merchant engagement is accountable for the implementation and management of partnerships for BMO credit cards in the Canadian market, as well as launching new partnerships. The incumbent will: (1) bring new partnerships to market (2) act as a thought leader on the integration of BMO’s partnerships into credit card & loyalty strategy (3) contribute to implementation and integration projects and new partnership launches (4) manage, grow and optimise existing partnerships. Accountabilities Develop and implement new partnerships Lead the business case process to review, assess and optimise economics and incremental value added by partners. Provide recommendations on short‑ and long‑term options. Support the tracking of expected benefits due to projects delivered by the team. Contribute to negotiations with partners and the entire business development / sales cycle. Identify and support the launch of new distribution partnerships aligned to BMO growth objectives as multi‑product "One Bank" solutions that drive engagement and long‑term value. Thought leadership for integration Develop and lead the execution of partnership strategies based on deep consumer insights and benchmarking assessment. Work closely with other lines of business to identify existing BMO partnerships and assess fit with credit cards. Continuously monitor the competitive environment to ensure our partnerships deliver significant value to cardholders and identify new distribution partnerships through quarterly assessment and planning. Implementation and integration Effectively manage all contractual and supplier management requirements for new partners. Liaise with other lines of business including payments, Personal & Business Banking teams. Manage risk and ensure compliance with laws, rules and BMO policies. Management of existing partnerships Effectively manage day‑to‑day operations of all credit card partnerships. Ensure contractual and partner commitments are met. Deliver an annual plan for priorities and goals for each partner with growth objectives and optimisation path. Work collaboratively across payments business as partnership lead for credit cards. Qualifications Knowledge Minimum undergraduate university degree, an MBA or other post‑graduate degree, or equivalent industry‑related experience preferred. 3+ years credit card product management experience. 2+ years partner relationship management experience. Management consulting or Strategy experience preferred. Strong track record delivering results in ambiguous and challenging situations. P&L management experience preferred. Data fluency is an asset. Skills Excellent business acumen and strategic planning. Negotiation, business / partnership development, value creation. Strong financial, quantitative, analytic and business‑casual skills. Proven ability to establish conducive working relationships with partners and managers across different business units and groups. Proven ability to influence without authority and drive change. Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with ability to frame and communicate complex problems. Excellent problem‑solving skills. Proven ability to manage multiple facets of a complex business and prioritise key levers and initiatives. Strong time management and project management skills. Strong analytical skills to evaluate partner performance and identify optimisation opportunities. Team‑oriented, collaborative and flexible. Strong attention to detail. Salary & Pay Type $69,000.00 - $129,000.00 Paid: Salaried The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education and qualifications for the role and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position. BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package varies by pay type and may include performance‑based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other perks and rewards.
