WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Natural Forces is seeking a professional to fill a position on the Development Team as Project Developer - Environmental. The Development team is responsible for conducting all required works to bring renewable energy projects to a construction-ready stage. This is a full-time position based in Halifax, NS that will require occasional travel. The primary responsibilities of the role will be:
- Oversee the environmental permitting of various renewable energy projects across Canada
- Support overall planning and pre-construction permitting of various renewable energy projects across Canada
KEY TASKS/DUTIES
- Review and understand federal, provincial and municipal legislation and policy related to environmental permits required for various renewable energy projects
- Manage relationships with consultants in order to oversee environmental field studies and preparation and submission of Environmental Assessments and other environmental permits
- Engage with provincial and federal regulators throughout the development of renewable energy projects in various jurisdictions
- Manage environmental scope schedules and budgets for variety of projects
- Liaise with project managers, construction, and operations teams to coordinate environmental works
OTHER DUTIES
- Create materials, prepare for, and attend stakeholder and rightsholders engagement meetings
- Support delivery of proposals, permits, and other submissions such as Request for Proposals
- Review, summarize and prepare reports on technical documents covering a variety of subjects pertaining to renewable energy development
- Assist in identifying new prospective wind project sites
- Uphold all aspects of Natural Forces health, safety & environmental policies, practices, and programs in every aspect of work
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Anticipated level of experience 2+ years
- Post-secondary degree with a background in science, engineering or a related discipline
- Experience in excel, database management
- Experience with GIS software is an asset, but is not considered mandatory
SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including both written and verbal communication
- Confident giving presentations
- Problem solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Easily motivated and can execute tasks independently
- Willing to travel and carry out remote site visits
