Workforce Readiness & Career Pathways Coordinator Organization: Black Literacy Code (BLC) Location: Edmonton, Alberta Position Type: Full-Time Contract (15 Months) Program: Empowerment Through Heritage: A Career Readiness Program for YouthAbout Black Literacy Code Black Literacy Code (BLC) is a Black-led, Black-serving nonprofit organization committed to cultural education, employment empowerment, and youth leadership. Through culturally grounded programming, BLC supports Black youth facing employment barriers by providing skills training, mentorship, and access to meaningful work opportunities.Position Overview The Workforce Readiness & Career Pathways Coordinator plays a key role in supporting youth as they transition from training into employment. This position is responsible for delivering employment readiness supports, coordinating quality employment opportunities (QEOs), building employer relationships, and ensuring youth are supported throughout their work placements. The Coordinator will work closely with participants, employers, and internal staff to ensure strong employment outcomes and positive workplace experiences. Key Responsibilities Deliver workforce readiness programming, including job search support, resume development, interview preparation, and workplace professionalism Coordinate and monitor paid Quality Employment Opportunities (QEOs) for youth participants Build and maintain relationships with employer partners across multiple sectors Match youth to appropriate work placements based on skills, interests, and readiness Conduct regular employer and youth check-ins, site visits, and progress reviews Support youth in navigating workplace challenges and career decision-making Collaborate with program staff to track attendance, participation, and outcomes Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to program reporting requirements Support youth in identifying long-term career pathways, education options, or continued employment Qualifications Experience in employment services, workforce development, career coaching, or youth programming Strong understanding of barriers faced by Black, racialized, newcomer, or underrepresented youth Experience working with employers or coordinating work placements is an asset Excellent communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Familiarity with trauma-informed, culturally responsive, or anti-oppressive practices is an asset Why Join BLC This role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of Black youth by supporting their journey into meaningful employment.
