Professional Water Resources Engineer or Scientist Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Professional Water Resources Engineer or Scientist in our Burnaby, BC office. The position will work on complex projects including mining related studies, dam related analysis, stormwater infrastructure design, flood mitigation practices, hydrologic/hydraulic analysis including dam breach studies and floodplain mapping, surface water, watershed, and stormwater runoff monitoring/modeling, industrial and construction site permitting support and inspections. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform and oversee detailed hydrologic and hydraulic studies for projects ranging from watershed level studies to mining projects, floodplain analyses, and stormwater management for land development projects. Apply innovative hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software from 1‑D to 3‑D transport models. Conduct floodplain mapping and flood protection designs. Manage in‑stream and urban stormwater water quality monitoring and modeling. Provide environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, auditing, resource optimization, and permitting. Support field investigations and construction activities. Develop construction documents, including engineering drawings and technical specifications. Prepare erosion and sediment control designs. Interact with client representatives. Direct multi‑disciplinary project teams. Scope, manage, and deliver multiple concurrent project assignments. Support business development and staff mentoring. Contribute to publishing and visibility at industry conferences. Travel to client or company project sites as needed. Education and Licensure Bachelor’s degree in environmental or civil engineering, natural resources or other scientific discipline with emphasis on water resources or a closely related field (required). Advanced degree in the same field (preferred). Professional registration (P.Eng) (preferred). Skills, Experience, and Qualifications At least 5 years of research or related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (required). Experience with modeling and design software tools such as EPA‑SWMM, HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS (preferred). Regular field work and overnight travel (required). Ability to succeed in a fast‑paced consulting environment with multiple project assignments, strict deadlines, and client travel (required). Excellent writing and communication skills (required). Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client‑driven drug and background testing may be required. Valid Canadian driver’s licence and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).
