Overview We are seeking an Applications Patch Engineer to strengthen our security and TechOps team supporting medical device software platforms. This role will focus on Linux administration, application installation, vulnerability management, patch deployment, and remediation across cloud and hybrid environments. You will ensure our systems remain secure and compliant while minimizing operational disruption for our global customer base. Responsibilities Evaluate, prioritize, and deploy OS and application patches across Linux servers Build automation for patch management and compliance reporting Plan patch windows in collaboration with R&D, Security team, and Customer Support to minimize operational disruption Install, configure, and maintain enterprise and clinical applications in Linux environments (RHEL) Create installation scripts, configuration templates, and automation playbooks (Ansible, Bash, Python) Support multi-tier application deployments (databases, middleware, APIs, web servers) Document procedures for repeatable deployments in customer and internal environments Monitor industry threat advisories (FDA, CISA, NIST, vendor bulletins) and ensure timely remediation Assist with incident response and forensic remediation in Linux environments Enforce security hardening (CIS benchmarks, SELinux, firewalls, encryption) Ensure patching and configuration activities comply with HIPAA, SOC 2, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, IEC Maintain detailed audit evidence for QMS, regulatory submissions, and customer security assessments Contribute to FDA cybersecurity postmarket processes and vulnerability disclosure handling Partner with DevOps, TechOps, and Infrastructure teams to evolve deployment automation pipelines Improve Linux deployment standards, monitoring, and troubleshooting guides Essential Skills 3–5 years of experience in Linux application installation / configuration and security patch management Hands-on experience with Linux administration (Oracle Linux) and scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell) Familiarity with application stack components: Tomcat, Oracle, middleware services Knowledge of vulnerability management and patching tools (Ansible, Ivanti) Understanding of compliance frameworks: HIPAA, SOC 2, FDA Additional Skills and Qualifications Experience with regulated medical devices or healthcare environments Familiarity with FDA cybersecurity pre / postmarket guidance Certifications: Linux+, RHCSA, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or GIAC Work Environment 100% Remote Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Edmonton, AB.
