Engineering Manager Be among the first 25 applicants. We have tons of interesting problems to solve with direct impact on users for transactional, time-series, and analytical workloads. As we grow, we need engineering managers to help us structure the organization, improve technical processes, provide career mentorship, guide the product roadmap, and manage projects. We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in New York City for our hybrid working model, or U.S. and Canada for our remote working model. Candidate Profile Experience building production-level code with a large user base, robust design structure, and rigorous code quality Degree in Computer Science or similar field, or equivalent practical experience, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design/architecture Proficient in C++ or a similar programming language Experience managing small engineering teams Passionate about running teams, mentorship, and coaching Position Expectations Manage a team of software engineers, ensuring their success and career growth, and facilitating their technical work Make coding contributions to the team’s projects as needed Provide feedback on architecture and design of new features Help eliminate technical barriers, coordinate dependencies, and focus on overall team happiness Contribute to planning for organizational growth, including resource allocation, hiring plans, and project assignments Set team culture by example Estimate delivery timelines and communicate project execution to upper management Success Measures In three months Meet regularly with all team members and learn their interests, strengths, and development areas Contribute to a project slated for the next major version of the MongoDB server, and fix bugs in a minor version In six months Participate in code and design reviews for new features Identify skillset gaps and help fill them Develop growth plans tailored to each team member’s career goals In twelve months Team has a track record of delivering new features Clearly understand the longer-term roadmap and integrate a plan to achieve it with the team Establish yourself as a leader so team members naturally seek guidance About MongoDB MongoDB is built for change, empowering our customers and our people to innovate at the speed of the market.
