Description This is a full time, permanent position working 75 hours bi-weekly. The Compliance, Monitoring and Inspections Branch is the enforcement arm of the Department, providing compliance, monitoring, inspection, and enforcement services for natural resource development activities in the territory. The general purpose of the position is to provide ongoing environmental monitoring at resource development sites. Degree or Diploma from a recognized university in Physical Sciences, Engineering, Biological Sciences or another relevant subject/field Experience collecting water samples in the field from resource development sites Experience inputting and analyzing water quality information Experience writing water quality and/or environmental monitoring reports Experience assisting with field investigations related to compliance monitoring would be an asset Candidates who have a combination of education, training and experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered. Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability Candidates should have, and may be assessed on their: Ability to analyze information in order to develop and effectively communicate recommendations Ability to prioritize effectively, set and meet deadlines, and quickly adapt to change Ability to assess challenges, exercise effective problem solving skills, and initiate solutions Ability to provide strategic advice on approaches and methods of environmental monitoring Ability to build positive and collaborative working relationships, becoming part of a select team Knowledge and understanding of the principles of water quality objectives, natural resource management, and sustainable development Well-developed interpersonal skills Excellent writing and organizational skills Dependability and ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a results driven environment Conditions of Employment Valid Class 5 driver’s license Pre-employment and periodic medical clearance Job Requirements Willingness and ability to work in, and travel to, Yukon communities in all seasons, approximately 10-15 times a year (from 2 to 14 days) by aircraft or vehicle Occasional field work, completed in all seasons and terrain types, often in remote settings, working longer days, and using a variety of vehicle types e.g. trucks, all-terrain vehicles, helicopters, boats etc. Use of personal protective equipment #J-18808-Ljbffr
