Commercial Real Estate Legal Assistant

Our client is a leading international law firm who is currently looking for a Commercial Real Estate Legal Assistant to join their Calgary office. This role will provide a variety of routine legal and administrative duties in Commercial Real Estate. The ideal candidate will be an organized and eager professional who takes initiative and ownership of their work, values attention to detail and has strong communication skills.
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Performing conflict searches, verifying client information, preparing retainer letters and other opening/closing file procedures;
- Prepare all documents necessary, from start to completion on all commercial real estate transactions
- Review commercial contract of purchase and sale, easements, rights of way, and subdivisions
- Review and prepare Commercial Leases
- Prepare documents with respect to acquisitions and sales of various types of commercial properties, financing, and development of land
- Prepare documents in relation to condominium project sales
- Obtain and review due diligence searches and completing summaries
- Prepare closing agendas
- Attend to registration of documents and security in land title offices and other government registries
- Liaise with all internal and external parties involved with the transaction, including preparation of correspondences
- Review and respond to correspondences
The successful candidate must have the following education, experience and/or demonstrated skills:
- Legal Administrative Assistant Diploma or Certificate from an accredited institution
- A minimum of 5 years previous legal assistant experience in commercial real estate
- Search experience is considered an asset
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) with emphasis on styles and formatting;
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and solve problems in a fast paced environment
- Comfortable in an environment of continuous learning with on-going formal and self-learning opportunities
- Solution-oriented with sound judgment to make informed decisions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to use discretion when dealing with confidential information
- Solid organization and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Professional, responsive, friendly, and able to build productive relationships
