The purpose of this position is to oversee the microbial segment of research and development. Optimize fermentation methods, develop new methods, & research to develop new technologies to make them commercially viable, to prepare the scale-up, to write methods and procedures. Contribute to and support the quality control of finished products and raw materials.


POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

The following are essential job functions.

  • Develop new or improve existing culture medium for microbial strains.
  • Develop new or improve existing fermentation process parameters, such as, batch or fed batch or other related feeding strategies.
  • Develop new or improve downstream processes to improve spore quality and count.
  • Develop strategies to improve the overall reliability and productivity of fermentation processes
  • Prepare technical reports and recommendations, based upon research outcomes.
  • Collaborate with production, process development and QC teams to identify problems or opportunities for continuous improvements.
  • Independently selects techniques and procedures to solve problems within area of responsibility.
  • Develop, evaluate, and implement detailed experimental projects within area of responsibility.
  • Analyze data, draw conclusions, present project results, and make recommendations to the management team.
  • Assists in managing the daily workflow of the laboratory.
  • Handle and protect confidential and sensitive data with integrity.
  • Work closely with Quality Control (QC) Department to assure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Compliance with maintaining facility cleanliness.
  • Responsible for accurate documentation on all records

JOB SPECIFICATIONS


Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in science or related field or equivalent professional experience with excellent English language skills, is required.

Minimum Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Knowledge

Biology — Knowledge of plant and animal organisms, their tissues, cells, functions, interdependencies, and interactions with each other and the environment.

English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Chemistry — Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.

Mathematics — Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.

Education and Training — Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

Reading Comprehension — Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
