**Full Job Description/ Description de l’emploi offert**

Bionetix International is looking for an enthusiastic microbiologist or specialist in microbial fermentation that can lead many interesting projects. This person will oversee the biological part of research and development. He/she will be mandated, amongst other things, to optimize fermentation methods, to develop new ones, to do research to develop new technologies, to make them commercially viable, to prepare the scale-up, to write methods and procedures. It will also contribute to and support the quality control of finished products and raw materials.

ROLE
- Design and implement a laboratory fermentation system and recovery, purification or fermentation processes to produce microbial cells for bioaugmentation;
- Design or conduct studies to determine optimal conditions for cell growth, using laboratory and pilot scale equipment for cell cultures, such as centrifuges, bioreactors, freeze dryer, etc.
- In charge of researching and developing new technologies or biological solutions to scientific, industrial and commercial challenges and bringing them to market
- Must be able to characterize, identify and quantify microorganisms
- Support quality control of finished products and raw materials.
- Confers with other research and bio-manufacturing personnel to ensure the compatibility of design and production.
- Designs or directs bench or pilot production experiments to scale up
- Write and review technical reports and other required document.
- Maintain databases of experiment characteristics or results.

Qualities sought
- Someone who is curious and passionate about environmental issues
- Autonomous and honest, requiring little supervision, able to lead a project from start to finish
- Experience in bio-fermentation, use of microscope and plate counts
- In-depth knowledge of microorganisms
- Organized
- Accurate
- Experience in environmental impact assessment (an asset)
- Familiar with GLP and ISO9001 (an asset)
- Flexible in schedule
- Intermediate computer knowledge (Word/Excel) Epicor (an asset)
- Some experience in an industrial atmosphere (appreciated)
