What are your contributions to the team?

In your role, reporting to the Director of Product Development you will:

  1. Lead a team of Systems Engineers
  2. Participate in the recruitment and integration of new employees
  3. Ensure a good, positive, and healthy working environment for the employees (communication, recognition, coaching, and career development plans/opportunities)
  4. Ensure adequate engineering resources are allocated to the tasks to support aircraft development and support production and in-service issue resolution
  5. Manage and resolve priority conflicts within own department and with internal customers
  6. Be accountable for your group’s performance – deliver on-time, within budget and with quality to support the business objectives
  7. Participate in the organization of departmental governance
  8. Provide visibility on the execution, issues, and escalations, as needed, to your Director/VP
  9. Participate in budget preparation and have accountability for managing financial resources
  10. Identify cost reduction opportunities
  11. Identify training and travel required to support business needs
  12. Develop or adapt tools and processes as needed by the function in order to meet our organizational objectives
  13. Manage the Structures Supplier(s) and establish weekly technical coordination meetings to meet program commitments
  14. Develop structure and system installation conceptual layouts for the complete Airframe on new and existing aircraft programs
  15. Closely interface with stress, systems, interiors, and support functions such as thermodynamics, mass properties, etc
  16. Generate preliminary design studies and layouts using 3D modeling
  17. Provide technical solutions to resolve design or manufacturing issues
  18. Generate and execute weight savings ideas
  19. Supply input to impact analysis (technical, cost, schedule)
  20. Support directly other engineering and operations departments
  21. Support or lead design and program reviews with partner/suppliers
  22. Provide status for project and functional management
  23. Manage design changes through all the cycles of the change management process
How to thrive in this role?

As our ideal candidate,

  • You have a technologist or bachelor’s degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering or aerospace technical field plus a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in aerospace or related industry
  • You must possess a strong knowledge of aircraft structures and/or systems installation: configuration, preliminary sizing, design for manufacturing, detail design (sheet metal, machined parts, piping, component assembly, GD&T), material and processes, certification requirements, weight control and industry design standards
  • You have a strong familiarity in aerospace manufacturing processes and capabilities
  • Your familiarity with Aircraft systems overall operation and function is considered an asset
  • Your familiarity with in-service operation and aircraft maintenance is an asset
  • Your familiarity with Aircraft Interiors is considered an asset
  • You have knowledge of CATIA V5, Enovia, and MS Office is required
  • Knowledge of NX and Teamcenter is an asset
  • You are an energetic person with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have a high sense of commitment, are willing to accept responsibilities and act independently in a high-pressure partner/supplier team
  • You must be fluent in English. Knowledge of French is an asset
