Key Objective We are seeking an ambitious and energetic underwriting manager with deep experience in the Canadian P&C marketplace for Chubb’s Small & Lower Midmarket (“SLM”) unit in Canada. Reporting to the SVP, Small & Lower Midmarket Segment Leader, this individual leads a team of dedicated SLM new business production underwriters in an operating model designed to efficiently underwrite SLM business. The ideal candidate enjoys a fast-paced, dynamic, and team-oriented environment focused on achieving superior results. Major Responsibilities Drive new business production through a team of multiline underwriters working in multiple branches, approve deals within assigned authority limits, and manage underwriter productivity. Implement and optimize multiline solutions to aggressively drive new business with consideration to appetite, underwriting, product, pricing, servicing, renewal, distribution/marketing, and technology to achieve long-term growth and profitability. Work with Canadian and North American teams to implement SLM underwriting strategy. Execute financial plans and provide regular reporting SLM Canada, including production forecasting and reporting. Provide updates on financial results and delivery milestones to senior executives. Promote Chubb’s SLM market presence and raise awareness of our capabilities by actively engaging in broker visits, presentations, trade shows, alliances, digital/social media, and other activities. Talent management for direct and indirect reports, including performance assessments, compensation planning, recruiting, and onboarding. Support the execution of SLM-focused distribution strategies. Ensure adherence to audit and compliance requirements and execute self-audits for SLM underwriters. Partner with the renewal and service lead(s) to deliver a superior broker experience on the entire SLM portfolio. Travel: This position requires travel across Canada and the northeastern United States, approximately 25% of the time. Qualifications 8+ years of commercial underwriting experience Deep knowledge of the Canadian commercial insurance marketplace and distribution landscape.
