Your role Global Relay is looking for a Software Asset Manager to manage and optimize the purchase, deployment, maintenance, utilization, and disposal of software applications within our organization. This role helps maximize the value of software investments while minimizing risks and costs. The successful candidate will help build the software asset management (SAM) practice by developing the framework, processes, procedures and tracking methodologies required for the management and control of our software environment. The Software Asset Manager is crucial for maximizing efficiency, controlling costs, and mitigating risks associated with software acquisition and usage. Your responsibilities Track and manage software licenses to ensure compliance and avoid overspending Use analytical skills to run reports and provide data to various stakeholders Provide data and insights to support strategic decisions about software investments and usage Monitor and ensure software is used efficiently and identify areas for optimization and cost savings Establish ongoing policies and procedures for acquisition, documentation, deployment, usage and retirement of software Manage software cradle-to-grave, ensuring removal of applications that are no longer needed or used Identify and mitigate potential risks such as security vulnerabilities and compliance issues Collaborate with Legal, Finance, and Procurement to ensure effective software asset management Work with Legal and CSOC to ensure software usage complies with licensing agreements and legal requirements Assist with software audits Enforce compliance with Global Relay Security Policies and server and end-user device standards Educate other functions on SAM policies, procedures, processes, and practices Reduce the risk of security breaches and data loss related to software Streamline licensed software deployment and management processes to improve efficiency About you 5+ years of direct Software Asset Management (SAM) experience, preferably in enterprise environments Advanced experience with enterprise SAM platforms (ServiceNow, Snow, Flexera, or similar) Excellent presentation and stakeholder management skills Ability to work both collaboratively and independently to build processes and frameworks Advanced analytical and strategic thinking with attention to detail Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Professional SAM certification preferred (IAITAM, Snow certifications, or equivalent) Expert knowledge of MS licensing models and cloud licensing optimization Compensation Global Relay advertises the pay range for this role in compliance with British Columbia's pay transparency laws. Individual pay rates are determined by evaluating factors such as expertise, skills, education, and professional background. The range below reflects the expected annual base salary, which is one element of our total rewards package. We provide a comprehensive extended health benefits program, including virtual healthcare and a wellness allowance, annual vacation time that increases with tenure, paid sick days, parental benefits, corporate bonuses, and an RRSP contribution matching program. For Vancouver-based employees, we offer a subsidized meal program.
